In continuation to the initiative of building awareness among the target population on the importance of girl child and PC&PNDT Act, We continued to organize various mass and target group oriented awareness camps in the selected mandals (Chilakaluripet, Narasaraopet, Bapatla, Vinukonda and Repalli) of Guntur district. While conducting these awareness camps, we had strongly felt the need of support from individual, family and community level. In a majority of the cases at the family level, the decision maker is the bread winner (male) of the family. In this case (preferential sex birth) there is also a key role played by the older generations. We conducted specific awareness programs with male and elderly populations of the community. On the other hand, we also initiated discussions with Panchayat Raj Institutions for their support and involvement in addressing the issue.
